Containers have a huge part in our daily lives especially when we bring food at work or at school - like what I always do. We need those air-tight ones to prevent our food from getting spilled all over our bags. After using them, we wash them with liquid soap and a scrubbing pad then dry them off with paper towels. But during the next day, when we open the lid, we could still smell the food we had yesterday. Thought about washing it again? Perhaps you missed a spot.. The truth is, if your containers are made of rubber or plastic, no matter how many times you wash it, the smell will stick and the smell get stronger after a few days.
The secret in keeping your containers odor free? SALT.
Adding a pinch of salt in containers before placing them in the shelf will totally prevent them from having this "weird" smell. Make sure your wipe your containers dry first before adding the pinch of salt and do not forget to remove the salt before storing food in it. Go ahead and try it because it works! :)
