The Big Coconut: How to Clean Piping Bags

Piping bags are often used in decorating cakes, muffins, and other pastries. After it is used, it may be difficult to clean them and even if you wash it several times, there might still be residues left. If you store piping bags without cleaning it properly, it might smell and you have to buy new ones again. To save money, since good quality piping bags may cost a bit, here are few tips to clean piping bags properly so that you can reuse it.

1. Squeeze out any left over icing or cream from the piping bag.

2. Turn the piping bag inside-out and clean the bag using a sponge with liquid soap. Make sure that the bag is thoroughly covered with soap. Repeating the process,  right-side-in and inside-out, until the bag is grease-free.

3. After washing, clean the bag with a dry towel and let it air dry overnight. Then store it in a cool place so that you can reuse it again.
