Ingredients:
1/2 kg oyster mushrooms, washed and strained
2 c flour
1/4 cornstarch
1 tsp dry basil leaves
a pinch of baking soda
salt
pepper
cold water
Procedure:
1. To make the batter, add flour, cornstarch, basil leaves, baking soda, salt and pepper. Add water just enough to create a semi-thick batter. Do not add water too much or it will cause the batter to be watery and this will not coat the mushrooms well.
2. As soon as the batter is ready, prepare cooking oil over medium heat enough for deep frying.
3.Dip the mushrooms into the batter and coat evenly. Also allow to drip excess batter before frying it.
4. Deep-fry until golden brown.
