The Big Coconut: Wire Whisk

Inventor: Turner Williams, 1870
A Wire Whisk is an apparatus purposely made to beat eggs or to make cakes. It is also used to blend ingredients smoothly. The process called Whipping or Whisking, terms used in culinary, is a process wherein air is incorporated into a mixture using a wire whisk.

There are different kinds of wire whisk namely:
Ball Whisk, individual wire are attached to the handle then small balls are attached at the end of each wire.
Spiral Whisk, also known as Gravy whisk, a coiled wire is attached to the handle.
Balloon Whisk, best used in mixing balls because the curved wires completely comes in contact with the bowl's sides.
Cage Whisk, also known as Balloon Whisk, it has similar functions.
French Whisk, has long and narrow wires best for deep bowls.
Roux Whisk, also known as Flat Whisk, wires are flat with spiral pattern, used in skillets.

Wire whisk attachment is also invented and is used in kitchen mixers for the same purpose. It saves time, effort and it is more effective especially if you are making a large number of mixtures.
