Recipes to Share: Bicol Express


Ingredients:
1 kg ground meat
500ml coconut milk
1 tsp shrimp paste
5 pcs garlic gloves, chopped
1 onion, minced
6 pcs bell peppers, sliced into small squares
salt
pepper

Procedure:
1. In a wok, sauté garlic with a little cooking oil.

2. Add the onions and continue sautéing until it turns light brown.

3. In a separate wok, let the coconut milk simmer for 10 minutes.

4. On the wok containing the sautéd garlic and onion, add the ground meat and cook it until it turns grayish brown.

5. On the wok with simmered coconut milk, add the meat.

6. Mix until the meat and coconut milk is well combined.

7. Add a teaspoon of shrimp paste.


8. Let it simmer for a few minutes the add the bell peppers.

9. Mix well and let it simmer again for a few minutes then you're done! : )
This dish is best served with hot garlic rice! : )

  1. Bicol Express is a dish which I only got to try when I went to Manila since it is very abundant in carenderias. It is now one of my favorite dishes. I hope to try your bicol express one day! :)
