Foodie Adventure: Banapple

Love is in the air!~ It's the month of Love and of course everyone would be busy planning where to take their special someone to have dinner or lunch with. Cafés and restaurants are mostly fully booked. Most of us would prefer to take their partners somewhere romantic or classy and some would also prefer simple but meaningful places. My partner and I also did a little brainstorming last week as where we would like to have our lunch at. We were thinking somewhere peaceful and relaxing since for the past weeks we were both so busy with our work - stress! So we made a point that this special day - Valentine's Day - we would treat ourselves with delicious food. So we decided to eat at Banapple.

Banapple is owned by GJ and Maricel Jimenez, a couple who started their business (home based) by supplying pies and cakes to restaurants and coffee shops. On 2007 they were able to have their very own shop and named it Banapple - a name combined based on their two best selling pies: Banoffee Pie and Apple Caramel Crumble Pie.

As we enter the shop, we have this warm "home" feeling because the ambiance is very cute like the gingerbread house from the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel, but a little simpler. It has a cozy atmosphere and the shop's furniture are more of the country-style feel. I really noticed the door handle design and I find that really nice. The waitresses greeted us happily and just after chose where to sit, she handed us a menu and informed us that we will be ordering at the cashier.

There were plenty of dishes and drinks listed in the menu. That day we were craving for pasta because we decided not to have rice for lunch. We also planned to have a salad so that our meal would be "healthy" and a sandwich too. So right after, I went to the cashier and ordered. After less than 10 minutes, The sandwich was served! : )

Warm Chicken Salad Sandwich
Personally, I love chicken salad. I love the shredded chicken mixed with mayonnaise and herbs. The nice thing about this sandwich is that they used wheat bread than the usual cream bread. The lettuce was fresh and it also comes with potato chips as the side dish.

Potato Chips (side dish)
If you notice in the menu, it says there than every order of sandwich has a side dish of potato chips. We were actually wondering if these chips are made by them or if it store bought. But these chips are really awesome because they are thick and flavorful.

Super Caesar Salad
The salad came in right after the sandwich, the serving was just right and one thing we observed about this salad is that the bacon bits and croutons are really crunchy. We also noticed that the dressing has a thick texture than the usual Caesar salad dressing which we find it nice and the veggies are really fresh!

Baked Creamy Cheese Penne
My partner order this one because he was curious about the "creamy cheese". It was served in a bowl with two slices of wheat bread. The bowl was very hot and that is a good thing because it means that it is freshly baked. The cheese was also bubbling when it was served. The aroma was fantastic!

Penne Bolognese
I ordered this one since I remembered a pasta dish in our favorite android game I Love Pasta. I was really happy when it was served to me because the serving was very generous. It's like two people can really enjoy eating with this single order. They were plenty! Just the way I like it : ) This is also served with two slices of wheat bread. How nice of them to care for their customer's health~

Old-fashioned Chocolate Cake
Just like the saying "There's always room for dessert!" Yes we agree to that, that's why we made sure there's a cake after our heavy meal. The cake is really moist which is good because who wants dry cakes right? The caramel filling was not too sweet which really complements well with the sponge. The slice was big enough for two people which really made us both happy about it.

So there you have it : ) That's our hearty meal on Valentine's Day. Overall we enjoyed our food and the service as well. You can order whole cakes and other pastries too. Just check on the display and shelf what they have in-store. I'm guessing that they might also have seasonal cakes and dishes dishes? One thing is for sure, we are coming back to eat at Banapple on March : )
