Pigs or hogs had have been domesticated since ancient times. It is a land mammal which are mostly raised in farms for their consumption. Their hair is sometimes made into brushes. There are actually other known names for pigs such as:
Barrow, a castrated male pig.
Boar, a domesticated male pig.
Sow, a domesticated female pig.
Pork is rich in protein, Vitamin B1, Vitamin 6, Vitamin B12, Iron, Potassium and Niacin. But eating too much pork will lead to serious health concerns. As well as with other foods, eating the right amount is good for the body but eating too much is not right.
There are so many ways to cook Pork. It can be fried, boiled, braised, grilled, stuffed, baked and a whole lot more. In the Philippines however, the most popular dish made from Pork is the Lechon. A whole pig is cleaned, internal organs removed and rubbed with spices. In other parts of the country, fresh herbs are stuffed inside the pig's stomach so that the flavor is more concentrated. Then the whole pig is roasted on a small "pond" of hot coal until the pig turned golden brown to reddish brown. Other Filipino specialty includes, Lechon Kawali, Crispy Pata, Pork Skin Cracklings and many more.
