Scientific Name: Thunnus albaceres
Yellowfin Tuna is one of the largest edible fish in the world and they are mostly found in tropical oceans. They are fast swimmers and they can usually catch up to any fish of other marine creatures for its meal. Its anal and dorsal fins are bright yellow in color and that's where its name came from.
Tuna has three types of omega-3 fatty acids which are very good for the heart. These fatty acids are: eicosapenaenoic acid (EPA), alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It is also a great source of Vitamin B12 which is good for the body and for energy booster.
Fish fillets, Tuna sandwiches, fried or grilled tuna and sushi are some of the common dishes that are made from Yellowfin Tuna. Tuna in can are also distributed world wide.
